Yield is a new artwork by Tild Greene installed on the facade of the Oude Kerk. A transparent funnel reflects the site's drainage infrastructure and directs rainwater to a circular copper element that gradually patinates, while a silicone section remains preserved. The work emphasizes how systems of regulation, access, and maintenance silently influence behavior.
In their work, Tild explores resilience and sustainability through the behavior of materials. Their sculptures are often activated by use, time, or environmental factors, causing objects to change slowly. By working at the boundary of functionality, Tild draws attention to systems that shape classification and behavioral patterns. The artist lives in Amsterdam and works internationally.
After stumbling upon a ceramic bird whistle in a thrift store in Finland, Marlotte Nugteren became fascinated by the sound of clay whistles and started creating a collection of her own. Using her self-made whistles, other handmade sound objects and her voice, she creates ominous soundscapes that form a multi-layered dreamscape telling stories of the source of her instruments: soil.
Laura Kampman is a photographer and composer. A tender experimentalist who is specialized in capturing memories through sound rather than images. She collects the sounds of her surroundings: conversations, environmental textures, everyday objects and intimate conversations. For her DJ sets she blends these recordings together with existing songs and compositions, creating collages of found sound and melody that unfold like a sonic diary.
For Max Vet only one thing is at play: having a good time. Behind the decks, he lets loose on punk rock, eurohouse, breakbeats, and even ballads by none other than André Hazes. You might also remember Max from back in the day, when he was hunting for bad ideas and even worse adventures with his band, The Covids. The rule is simple: it has to be a tad cheeky, kind off against the grain, and above all, just fucking awesome. He has previously played at Best Kept Secret, Skatecafe, Homelanding, Cafe40 (resident), PIP, Paradiso, Klaproos, and Melkweg, among others.
San Francisco breathes new life and sound into an intimate venue on Zeedijk, the bustling border between Amsterdam’s Red Light District and Chinatown. A night bar whose various, storied incarnations have spanned sixty-plus years, it now reopens as a carefully curated day-and-night space where music, art, and culture meet. Open until 4 am on weekdays and 5 am on weekends, San Francisco easily positions itself within Amsterdam’s forward-thinking club scene, its tight-knit creative community and our neighborhood.
Every other week we organize a program in San Francisco where one of the featured artists answers questions about their work and inspiration, followed by a (live) music program.
