BLKNWS® Original Variations (Unique Variant #6) was acquired by Bonnefanten in 2019, directly from the artist. The artwork consists of ten variations, that have all been produced in the same general way. These 10 variations include what the artist describes as an Original Program, an archival version of the work specifically related to the variation.
Kahlil Joseph is a leading American artist and filmmaker working with film and video installation. His work explores Black identity, history, and imagination as constantly evolving. He is known for a poetic visual language in which documentary, fiction, and archival material flow into one another.
Kahlil’s films and installations connect intimate, everyday moments to collective history and larger social questions. Music and rhythm play a central role, giving his work the feeling of a visual composition. By weaving together the personal and the political, Kahlil resists fixed narratives and creates space for complexity, multiplicity, and lived experience.
About Location
Patta began in 2004 from a shared love of sneakers and music and evolved into a cultural platform. Founded by Edson Sabajo and Guillaume ‘Gee’ Schmidt, it links local street culture to global influence, where community, style, and identity converge.
